Life in rural Blanco County, Texas, isn´t what most folks would call exciting - and that suits game warden John Marlin just fine. He´s happy to spend his days and nights protecting the local wildlife from poachers. But when the tequila-slamming, skirt-chasing treasurer of the local Rotary Club goes missing and his vehicle is found in the river the day after a flood, Marlin finds himself in charge of the search efforts. At nearly the same time, a nearby house explodes in a shower of drug paraphernalia, and an exotic car turns up stolen from the missing man´s barn. Marlin and Sheriff Bobby Garza are soon overwhelmed, trying to figure out how everything connects together. It isn´t long before events begin to spiral out of control. Edgar Award-nominated author Ben Rehder keeps the plot moving and the laughs coming in another spectacularly funny crime novel straight out of the zaniest imagination in Texas. 1. Language: English. Grace was dressed in a long, flowing silk robe that was slightly opened to reveal a perfectly tan and lean body encased in a skimpy bikini. She and the similarly attired Claudia each took one of Charlotte´s arms as they walked into the main atrium of the hotel so they could show her around the facility. Charlotte was shown the pool that overlooked the cliffs above the harbor and was excited to see the women wore little to nothing as they lounged about on the deck. The few men that were visible had thongs only, or were being guided about with blindfolds, gags, collars, whips and other tools of domination for those that desired that sort of thing. She noticed a gorgeous red head lounging in a bikini that left little to the imagination as she further surveyed the hotel guests. ´´Who´s that gorgeous redhead over there?´´ Charlotte asked her hosts. ´´Oh my goodness, that´s Cathy Blanco. You have to meet her Charlotte; she´s here to relax after also experiencing quite a turbulent year, much as yourself,´´ explained Claudia, ´´We´ll leave the rest of the tour for later, let me introduce you.´´ ´´Excuse me Cathy, I´d like to introduce you to our newest guest, Dr. Charlotte Koehler. She´s here for a vacation and to perform a little plastic surgery,´´ said Grace, the more ebullient of the two. Cathy took off her sunglasses to reveal the most beautiful emerald eyes that stood out against her fair skin coloring and thick, long red hair. And, she was a true redhead since she was lying naked with her snatch exposed and what little hair there was, was red. Her eyes ran up and down the tall, statuesque woman as if she were a lollipop and then ran the tip of her tongue around the edge of her full, pouty lips as she held out her hand in greeting. ´´I thought you and Charlotte would find you have much in common,´´ suggested Claudia, ´´she too has ill parents that she lives with.´´ ´´Pleased to meet you Cathy,´´ she held out her hand in g... 1. For All of Us, One Today is a fluid, poetic account of Richard Blanco´s life-changing experiences as the inaugural poet in 2013. In this brief and evocative narrative, he shares the story of the call from the White House committee and all the exhilaration and upheaval of the days that followed. For the first time, he reveals the inspiration and challenges - including his experiences as a Latino immigrant and gay man - behind the creation of the inaugural poem, ´´One Today,´´ as well as two other poems commissioned for the occasion (´´Mother Country´´ and ´´What We Know of Country´´), published here for the first time ever, alongside translations of all three of those poems into his native Spanish. Finally, Blanco reflects on his new role as a public voice, his vision for poetry´s place in our nation´s consciousness, his spiritual embrace of Americans everywhere, and his renewed understanding of what it means to be an American as a result of the inauguration. Like the inaugural poem itself, For All of Us, One Today speaks to what makes this country and its people great, marking a historic moment of hope and promise in our evolving American landscape. 1.
